The Grim challenge

Next month several members of the practice are taking part in the Grim Challenge in aid of International Animal Rescue.

We have chosen this charity, as we wanted to support the fund raising of efforts of one of our local veterinary specialists, Lisa Milella. Lisa has seen many of clients over the years and has provided free of charge treatment to some of our rescue cases. Unfortunately, at the end of last year Lisa was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease and had to close her dental referral practice. After her devastating news she decided to set herself a challenge of raising money for International Animal Rescue (a charity she has supported for many years) whose aim is to save animals from suffering all around the world. Please see the attached sheet for further information about Lisa’s mission.

So on 7th December, eight of us will be trying to run, walk, clamber and swim through the 8 miles of mud and water that is the Grim Challenge. If you would like to contribute to our fundraising efforts then we would be grateful if you could sign up at reception or visit our Givey page at

We are grateful for any support that you can give us.

Information About the International Animal Rescue

Their work includes cutting free and caring for dancing bears in India, rescuing primates from captivity in Indonesia and sterilising and vaccinating stray dogs and cats in developing countries. Wherever possible they return rescued animals to their natural environment but they also provide a permanent home for animals that can no longer survive in the wild.

As human populations expand, wildlife comes under increasing threat. By rescuing individual animals belonging to species like the orangutan and reintroducing them into protected areas in the wild, our work also plays a role in the conservation of the species as a whole.
